Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to drop a quick post and let everyone (who doesn't already know) that we've put the adoption on hold temporarily.

There was a lot of rumbling when the DC Embassy halted dossiers, and since then, we've not gotten any better news. Basically, people were submitting dossiers, and being told they were rejected for miniscule details, and then told they could NOT reapply.

Right now, we're on hold for 6 months, and I'm planning on going to school in October to get my Veterinary Technician degree, so there's plenty going on.

And, for those of you who just can't resist...I know, I know, I might get pregnant in the meantime!

We received the apostilled Home Ownership Affidavit last week and I am going to meet with Los Ninos on Wednesday to assemble and turn in the dossier!

I'm making 6 copies of everything right now, so THANK YOU Sharon, for letting me baby-sit your copier while you are in DC, it has been a BIG help!!!

I'll post again after my meeting on Wednesday.

Hi Everyone!
I know it's been a while since my last message (like a whole month!), but nothing has happened. The suspension was lifted, but another document was brought to us to complete.

In a nutshell, we've been battling with our mortgage company for the last 3 weeks to have a form filled out. FINALLY, yesterday a supervisor UPS'd it to me and I sent it off for apostille.

I talked to Jason (our case-worker) yesterday, and Kaz has been going through some interesting changes with the new Embassador in DC. Their translator is no longer certified to work for the Embassy, and, though they've found one who is, can't seem to get the Embassy to return any correspondence.

Anyway, as soon as I get this last apostille, I'm submitting the dossier and we wait.

Fingers crossed that this will go smoothly.

Hi everyone!

We got a call last week from our case worker telling us that the hold on dossiers has been lifted. I have to update our divorce decrees and Mike's job letter as they'll be over 4 months old in a week.

Hopefully, that will put us right on track again.

I'd like to be in our Agency's office within a week to get this thing done!!!

Hi Everyone,

Well, I got the call that I was afraid of. Kazakhstan has put a hold on all dossiers until further notice. This means that only dossiers that are currently at the Embassy will be processed.

Our case worker called me today and gave me the news. He said that one of the National Agencies on adoption are making a statement tomorrow and that he would be in touch after that. I honestly wasn't too surprised, as the Yahoo Group I belong to was running this rumor for the last 24 hours.

Mike told me that Kaz did this once before in 2004 and it only lasted for a couple of months. Basically, this means that we will have to re-do some of our documents as they can be no older than 4 months. Once Kaz re-opens, we simply submit our dossier then.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it all happens for a reason, right???
